Drinks with Bob

December 1st, 2008

I woke up quite early this morning expecting the A/C repairman to come at 10, unfortunately he didn’t come at 10, nor 11, or 12, but he did finally arrive at 1. So I wasted about 4 hours that I could of been sleeping in by getting up early. Oh well, I did a few other things. Before he arrived I managed to clear the pool of large debris that had been in it for over a week. I also tried my best to get the smaller leaves and particles, but I feel that’ll be a job for the pool man. I ran the backwash and managed to empty some of the overflow, but went a little too far and had to refill it. The A/C repairman came and fixed the A/C unit so it cooled again, but as I was later to discover, […]

Two Bright Planets

November 30th, 2008

And now it’s the end of another month. We have come to the start of Christmas at last, although decorations have actually been in shopping malls and on houses since early this month, I think now should be the time to start getting things out. I’ll have to dig out the lights tomorrow and set them up. Mum put slightly more money than I need to live on into my account today so that maybe I could get some gifts for people. Now I’ll have to get out and have a look though. Today was a nice day, sunny, clear skies, hot though. I stayed in and watched the cricket, watched Australia rack up a big score that New Zealand might not be able to beat. It should be an interesting next couple of days. I drank red wine with Yvonne this […]

Dark and Stormy

November 29th, 2008

It was another late start this morning, as had become common for me these days. Strangely though, by the time I got up it was almost as dark outside as it was when I went to bed. An afternoon storm swept in, bringing rains and wind. Though the storm was actually mostly welcome, as I opened the doors and aired the house out while it lasted. I watched the cricket during, it was on in Adelaide where the weather was much better. I enjoyed that Australia and New Zealand are quite evenly matched, much better than watching Australia walk over another team, that’s not entertaining. After the sky cleared up I headed over to Yvonne’s, catching the ladies as they came back from their walk. I helped unload some alcohol from the car for Ada and then had a few drinks with both […]

Long Sleep-in

November 28th, 2008

I had a long sleep-in this morning, into part of the afternoon, although I wasn’t intending to, I just went to bed slightly later than planned after dropping Sze Sze off. By the time I got on MSN, Sze Sze was already logged on in HK, confirming she had got there fine. I had a sausage roll for lunch, and walked Chilli in the afternoon. Yvonne walked Arnie and Rambo due to Ada being away, playing golf. We made good time, better than usual, as Yvonne walks faster than Ada. This evening I was back to TV dinners, though had some frozen fish so it wasn’t just rice for dinner. It was quite filling. Then I settled in to watch a few different movies on TV. Mostly old stuff, though there was Die Another Day, which was a good James Bond movie.

North to South

November 27th, 2008

I was up early this morning, I had an appointment to keep. Shortly after 8 I walked over to Yvonne’s, picked her up and drove her down to Kingscliff to supposedly get a haircut and visit the grand kids. Chilli came with us too, enjoying the scenery from the back seat. Unfortunately when we got there Chris informed us that Yvonne was a week early and wasn’t expected until next week. Nevertheless, she got a quick blow-dry before we set back off up the coast. We got home before lunchtime. Shortly after lunch I picked Sze Sze up from school. Luckily she was ready and waiting for me by the time I arrived and it wasn’t particularly busy either, so we were sorted in under 5 minutes. For most of the day she unpacked and packer her bags, leaving her room in […]

And More Rain

November 26th, 2008

And thus, the wet weather comes back and drenches everything. It was a good day though, cool because of the rain and clouds, so it was actually nice outside. At 2 I took Yvonne to her doctors appointment. I said I’d wait for her but she insisted I go home instead. Chilli got her wash and haircut today, and now she looks very nice and when the weather gets hot again, hopefully wont be as hot as she was. Dinner was left over from the other night, so bangers and mash, with onion gravy and various other yummy vegetables. It’s good stuff. Early night tonight because I am driving Yvonne to Kingscliffe tomorrow for a haircut, and so she can visit the grand kids. While she’s visiting I’ll have Chilli.

Back to Trivia

November 25th, 2008

Mum woke me up this morning. She phoned to ask me to get the contact details for the A/C repair people, and to make sure I booked the pest controllers. It took quite a while for me to find the information about the A/C though, so I didn’t book the pest guys today, that’ll have to wait till tomorrow. Although mum woke me up, it wasn’t mum that kept me awake as I was quite tempted to just go back to sleep. Chris had sent me an email that I picked up on my touch and it was that email that kept me awake. We ended up having a 2 hour chat on skype, and I even ended up chatting with his sister Hannah, it was good fun. This afternoon, after the skype call, I headed up to university to attend trivia. Last […]

Open License

November 24th, 2008

I had a rather rude awakening this morning when an employee from HSBC New Zealand phoned me at 7 in the morning looking for mum or dad. In his time zone it would have been 10, but it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t able to provide him a number to phone as I was still half-asleep, but he had our home number in Hong Kong anyway and proceeded to give mum a rude awakening at 5 in Hong Kong. I was shaped again today due to a music download of course, however there’s only a few more days until the end of the month so I’m not worried. A friend, Kim, invited me to a Billy Joel concert in December so I thought I better listen to some of his music, and thus downloaded all he had. It’s not bad, I knew of some of […]

The Usual

November 23rd, 2008

It was Yvonne who woke me this morning. I hadn’t intended on getting up right at noon, and was in the middle of a fairly decent dream when she rang, but I had another hour of sleep anyway before finally getting out of bed. She phoned because she had a computer problem. By the time I got to her place this afternoon, she’d already walked Chilli without me, so I missed out on that, but fixing her computer turned out to be relatively easy. I just shut it down and turned it back on and it was working again. Maybe I have the knack? Tonight was a quiet TV and net night. I had cous cous for dinner and actually got quite bored. Towards the end of the night I watched a rather interesting travel show on Chamonix. It was probably […]

Rugby World Cup Final

November 22nd, 2008

There were no ants in my bedroom this morning, at least there weren’t any crawling down my wall behind my bed. It was too hot outside so I guess their home had dried up, or something like that. This evening I ended up airing out my room, spraying the window sills and wall and having a bit of a clean up. It was too hot to do much today except try beat the heat and basically watch TV. I did end up walking with Chilli again this afternoon though, catching some fresh air and sun. Towards the end of the day I thought having the A/C on would be good for me, but I was wrong, as I found out it only pumps out hot air right now. I’m sure mum or dad will want that fixed before they arrive in the height of […]
